The Philadelphia Phillies have a unique fan base.
Not many people gave me a dime for them before the season, and the situation got worse when they fell to a 22-29 start.
That prompted the front office to fire manager Joe Girardi.
Since that point, the redemption tour started: manager Rob Thomson led the team to a 65-46 record since taking over in early June, and the fans never quit.
They didn’t stop going to Citizens Bank Park at any point, even in the darkest times.
They didn’t stop having faith, even in late September when it looked like the team might ‘choke’ and lose its playoff spot.
Thomson has seen a lot of baseball in his life: he played in the seventies and eighties, and began his coaching career in the late eighties.
Thomson Has Not Seen A Fan Base Like The Phillies
He has been a part of some top organizations in MLB, but he says he hasn’t seen any fan base quite like the Phillies.

The Astros are widely considered to be the better team of the two, but that doesn’t mean Philadelphia can’t win.
And as long as they are alive, fans will have hope.
Hope is an important thing to have, and it’s the main driver behind Philadelphia’s raucous crowds in the postseason.
They would love to see their team win the World Series for the first time in 13 years.
They would be thrilled to watch this particular core be crowned as champions.
They are three wins away.
If they can string together three straight wins from Monday to Wednesday, the city might go crazy.
