The Philadelphia Phillies have been one of the best baseball teams of recent times.

After a slow start to the season, things have finally turned around.

June has been very kind to them as they have taken advantage of a flexible schedule.

The Phillies have not only been winning a ton of games, they’ve been doing it on the road.

Talkin’ Baseball notes that the Phillies have won 18 of their last 23 and nine straight road games.

Now the Phillies only sit 1.5 games out of a wild card berth.

The Phillies will have a hard time competing for the NL East again.

The Atlanta Braves are a well-oiled machine and have shown no signs of slowing down.

The Phillies trail the Braves by 10 games in the division and their only path to the playoffs may be a wild-card spot.

But that shouldn’t bother the Phillies, since they reached the World Series as a wild-card team last year.

The Phillies have had success lately thanks to the play of some unexpected players.

Ranger Suarez and Taijuan Walker have been dominating on the mound while Nick Castellanos has been dominating at the plate.

Castellanos is hitting .355 in June with five home runs and 21 RBIs.

He’s helped the lineup through the struggles of Bryce Harper and a few other Phillies hitters.

Once this team starts clicking on all cylinders, they should be in position to compete for a postseason spot.
