Friday’s home opener was a smashing success for the New York Mets.
The pregame ceremony was very cool and included injured closer Edwin Diaz, they got a pretty good start from fill-in starter Tylor Megill, and three of the team’s best hitters homered: Francisco Lindor, Starling Marte, and Pete Alonso.
Speaking of Alonso, his prodigious power keeps putting him in a position to break records.

It seems like yesterday when he was making his MLB debut in 2019, breaking Aaron Judge’s record for most home runs for a rookie with 53.
Fast forward four years later, and he has already reached 150 bombs in his career.
That’s a pretty impressive total, because he recently turned 28.
Theoretically, Alonso is about to enter the prime of his career.
He just became, as the image states, the second-fastest player in the history of the game to hit 150 home runs in terms of games played.
It took him 538 answers to get there.
Only the great 2000s slugger Ryan Howard did it faster, in just 495 games.
Hopefully, Alonso can stay healthy enough to make a run at more records.
Every time he steps on a baseball field, good things are bound to happen in the power department.
He is up to four home runs this season after going yard on Friday in front of his fans.
He hit 40 last year, and 37 in 2021.
Usually good for at least 35 per year, Alonso might one day reach 500 if he keeps up the pace for several more years.
It’s easier said than done, though.
We are not sure if he will get there or not, but one thing is certain: the Mets are going to have to pay him soon, because he hits free agency in a couple of years.
