The San Diego Padres didn’t quite make it to the World Series in 2022, but there is no denying they had a successful season.

They won 89 games in the regular season, secured their playoff spot, beat the New York Mets in the Wild Card round, and finally defeated their nemesis, the Los Angeles Dodgers, in a playoff series.

They reached the National League Championship Series for the first time since 1998.

They were ultimately no match for the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies, but Padres fans are probably happy with what they saw in 2022 and eager to find out what’s ahead now that the team will likely be able to enjoy something close to a full season by Fernando Tatis Jr.

It’s Halloween, though, and the Padres’ official Twitter account is making sure fans stay engaged with a clever tweet involving some costume ideas.

“Need some last minute costume ideas? We got you covered* *Bubblegum and Polaroid Camera NOT included,” they wrote, with Manny Machado and Joe Musgrove “costumes”.

Cool Parents “Costumes”

The Machado one includes six All-Star berths, more than 1,500 hits and the nickname, of course: “El Ministerio de la Defensa” (The Minister Of Defense).

It doesn’t include the bubblegum, though.

The Musgrove one does not come with the Polaroid, unfortunately, but does have a no-hitter, a cold brew, and a 22 All-Star berth.

It’s a cool way to remind fans that there were some really great performers in the 2022 Padres team.

They made the NLCS for a reason.

Now that they will get Tatis back at some point in April, and with that excellent rotation plus Juan Soto, Josh Bell, Jake Cronenworth and company, San Diego should be contending for the World Series in 2023.
