The Carolina Panthers have gone through plenty of changes since October.
That month, they fired head coach Matt Rhule and defensive coordinator Phil Snow, and shortly afterward, they traded star running back Christian McCaffrey, who was arguably their best player at the time.
More recently, Carolina hired Frank Reich, who was at the helm of the Indianapolis Colts for the first eight games of the 2022 season, as its new head coach.
Once McCaffrey left to join the San Francisco 49ers, D’Onta Foreman emerged as a difference-maker at running back, and he ended the season with 914 rushing yards and five touchdowns, with almost all of that production coming after McCaffrey’s departure.
But Foreman will be a free agent this offseason, and it isn’t a lock he will stay with Carolina, as he’s expected to attract lots of interest on the open market according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Foreman had a relatively quiet career prior to 2022, as he never reached 600 rushing yards or four touchdowns in any of his prior four seasons.
He also dealt with a number of injuries, including a torn Achilles in his rookie year, and the Houston Texans, his first team, waived him just prior to the 2019 campaign because of what they saw as laziness and tardiness.
But now, he could be one of the most coveted tailbacks in free agency not named Josh Jacobs.
Some feel that if the Panthers pony up the dough to keep him in the fold, they could actually have a real shot at making the playoffs in 2023 if they just find a way to acquire a good, reliable quarterback.
Since reaching the Super Bowl in the 2015 season, they’ve made the playoffs once and haven’t won a single postseason contest.
