Nick Wright Says 5 Teams Should Pursue Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson is still the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, at least for now, after they used their non-exclusive franchise tag on him, but that may not be the case for long.

He can negotiate the terms of a potential contract with any team he wants, and the Ravens would then have to option to match that contract or trade him to that team for two first-round draft picks.

Everyone is wondering and speculating where Jackson could and should go, and Fox Sports 1 personality Nick Wright listed his top five destinations for him.

The Indianapolis Colts have star running back Jonathan Taylor, plus wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., but they’re coming off a 4-12-1 season after veteran QB Matt Ryan was benched late in the schedule.

They will also have the fourth pick in next month’s NFL draft, which will allow them to add another piece.

The Atlanta Falcons have two standout running backs plus one of the better rookies of 2022 in wide receiver Drake London, and they’re looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017, a year after they reached the Super Bowl.

Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots have added wideout JuJu Smith Schuster and tight end Mike Gesicki, which would give Jackson two nice targets to throw to should he choose to head to Massachusetts.

Wright mentioned the Detroit Lions as his second choice for Jackson, and he even proclaimed that they would become the overwhelming favorites to reach the Super Bowl with him.

But his first choice — the San Francisco 49ers — really raises eyebrows, as they already have two potential-laden QBs in Trey Lance and Brock Purdy and not a lot of salary cap space or draft picks to use on a player such as Jackson.
