The Kansas City Chiefs released some sad news on Friday afternoon.

Former Chiefs wide receiver Otis Taylor passed away at the age of 80.

Taylor was one of the best players in the Chiefs’ history.

He played for the team from 1965-1975 and had 410 receptions for 7,306 yards and 57 touchdowns.

His best season came in 1971 when he finished second in league MVP voting and made first-team All-Pro.

Taylor helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl IV, as he scored an iconic touchdown in that game.

He is a member of the Chiefs Hall of Fame and will remain a large part of the history of the organization.

Some Chiefs fans are old enough to have seen Taylor play, and he was a fan favorite.

There are plenty of Chiefs fans that believe Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

During his era, he was one of the best wide receivers in the league.

His career stats compare to that of Fred Biletnikoff and Bob Hayes.

Both of whom are in Canton.

It will be interesting to see if Taylor gets nominated by the veteran’s committee at some point in the coming years.

The whole Chiefs community is saddened by the news of Taylor’s passing.

Many have reached out with their condolences via social media.
