NFL Analyst Says He Believes The Ravens And Lamar Jackson Will Part Ways

For months, everyone has been wondering if quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is set to become a free agent, will stay with the Baltimore Ravens or leave.

The Ravens did not give him the huge new contract he has been asking for, making his departure a distinct possibility.

Nick Wright of Fox Sports 1 is one of the pundits who thinks Jackson will be wearing a different uniform come September.

Many don’t think Jackson is worth the approximately $200 million guaranteed he reportedly wants, and one reason why is the type of quarterback he is.

Dual-threat signal-callers like him are thought to be a walking injury risk, and as the old saying goes, one’s best ability is availability.

Jackson has missed five games in each of the last two seasons, and in 2022, he was shelved for five contests, as well as Baltimore’s Wild Card playoff game, because of a sprained PCL.

When he is able to run, he is a big threat, as evidenced by his 764 rushing yards and three touchdowns in 2022.

But he isn’t a huge threat throwing the football, as he had just 2,242 passing yards, 17 touchdown passes, a 62.3 percent completion rate, and a 91.1 passer rating.

Letting Jackson go would be a painful pill for Ravens fans to swallow, but it may be necessary to prevent being slammed against the salary cap while paying the team’s franchise quarterback more than he is worth.

Baltimore is in a difficult situation, but it is looking more like there is only one real way out of it, and it won’t be a palatable one.
