NFL Analyst Has A Draft Suggestion For The Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are a team in the NFL that’s arguably one or two pieces away from being a perennial title contender in the AFC.

With Justin Herbert under center for the next decade or more, the Chargers have their quarterback of the future and a player that has shown to be the kind of leader that can lead this team to a championship.

However, the Chargers have dealt with some injury issues on both sides of the football, making it difficult for this up-and-coming team to be a consistent threat.

Despite most NFL mock drafts having the Chargers drafting a skill-position player at No. 21 overall on April 27, NFL Network’s James Palmer argues that the team should try to add depth by trading their first-round pick for multiple picks and bringing in a few talented players.

One major question to mark for the Chargers heading into draft day later this month is what the future holds for star running back Austin Ekeler.

The veteran running back played a significant role in the offense last season and cemented himself as one of the best all-around backs in the game.

Ekeler racked up 1,637 yards from scrimmage and scored 18 touchdowns during the 2022 campaign.

Unfortunately for the Chargers, he’s not happy with his situation in Los Angeles and wants to be traded, which impacts the team’s draft strategy if they can’t sort this out.

With some talented backs in the draft, the Chargers may do their due diligence if Ekeler is ultimately traded.

However, the Chargers could look to free agency to fill the void left by Ekeler rather than using a high draft pick.
