NFL Analyst Asks Important Daniel Jones Question

The New York Giants have some tough decisions to make this offseason, as quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley are free agents.

Jones is reportedly demanding a huge new contract, and there is speculation that they’re prioritizing paying Jones over keeping Barkley.

NFL analyst Warren Sharp, as seen below, provided a quarterback salary table and essentially questioned whether Jones is worth the $40-50 million a year he is reportedly asking for in his new contract when compared to his counterparts.

The market value for NFL QBs took a big jump last offseason when Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson earned big contracts.

On Monday, Derek Carr signed a deal with the New Orleans Saints that will pay him $37.5 million in 2023, while Geno Smith re-upped with the Seattle Seahawks for $105 million over three years.

Jones is excellent at moving the chains with his legs, as he ran for 708 yards and seven touchdowns this past season.

But the question with him is whether he is enough of a threat throwing the football or if he will ever develop into a real threat in that department.

He threw for just 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022, although he did complete 67.2 percent of his pass attempts.

Jones’ defenders would say that his development has been stunned by the fact that the Giants lack any real threats at wide receiver other than Darius Slayton, who put up a relatively modest 724 yards in 2022.

But if they were to lose Barkley, it could hamper their passing offense because of a lack of a strong running game.

This will not be an easy scenario for New York to navigate.
