The Chicago White Sox have recently confirmed the hiring of Pedro Grifol as their new manager.

Grifol had been the bench coach for the Kansas City Royals and was on hand for the 2015 World Series championship run.

Now in Chicago, Grifol has high goals and hopes to transform the White Sox back into a contending ballclub.

Grifol was asked about what his plan was for Yoan Moncada, the eleven promising young star who has taken a step back in recent years.

This year, he hit just .212 with 12 home runs and 51 RBI.

Grifol stated that his plan is to get Moncada back to a spot where he can draw more walks.

Grifol Reveals Plan For Moncada

Moncada walked 84 times in 2021.

He also hit .263 with 14 homers and 61 RBI.

Moncada only walked 32 times in 2022.

So, it appears that the goal for Grifol is to try and get Moncada to be more patient at the plate and get back to where he was not too long ago.

Moncada came to the White Sox from the Boston Red Sox in the Chris Sale trade back in 2016.

Injuries have been an issue for Moncada in recent years.

He was limited to 104 games this season and 132 back in 2019.

Moncada dealt with an oblique injury and multiple hamstring issues this season.

But Grifol seems to have high goals for Moncada and believe that there is a chance to get him back to where he was back in 2021.

The White Sox finished 81-81 in 2022 and fell short of the postseason.
