Nash and Nets Split, Expected to see Udoka, Snyder – USA Informing

The Brooklyn Nets and Coach Steve Nash parted ways on Tuesday, Nov. 1st. After a 2-5 start, the Nets and Nash decided it was time for some new air. Nash held a 94-67 record in his 159-game stint as the head coach for the Brooklyn Nets. Kevin Durant was adamant in the Summer about his displeasure of him with Nash as head coach and will now see life without the two-year head coach. For tonight, Durant’s Nets will have assistant Jacque Vaughn playing the head coach role.

Brooklyn is looking into acquiring Ime Udoka after his suspension from the Boston Celtics.

Brooklyn expected to look into the suspended head coach of the Boston Celtics, Ime Udoka. Udoka was suspended from the Celtics for the entirety of the 2022-2023 season due to a violation of team policies. Boston has granted Udoka permission to leave for another job. Udoka went 51-31 in his first year as the head coach of the Boston Celtics and reached the NBA Finals. Udoka started a mediocre 25-25 to begin his rookie coaching season but rallied to finish the season, going 26-6 to end the year.

With Udoka potentially gone for good, this could mean big news for current Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla. Mazzulla could be playing for a head coaching job beyond this season if Udoka is named the new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets with Nash gone. Mazzulla has his Celtics sitting at 4-2 on the season.

Brooklyn also expected to check out other candidates, such as former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder. Snyder coached eight seasons in Utah and won 372 of his 636 games for a .585 win percentage. Snyder coached the Jazz to the Western Conference one seed in 2020-2021 but would fall to the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round.
