The Los Angeles Dodgers may currently still be dealing with the initial shock of losing shortstop Gavin Lux for the entire season, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have things to look forward to for 2023.
Despite the loss of Lux, Los Angeles still has a solid core of players featuring Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Will Smith, Julio Urias, and Tony Gonsolin.
Betts is the player that is usually going to steal most of the highlights.
He’s been an elite player ever since his arrival in 2014 with the Boston Red Sox.
On Twitter, MLB pointed out a very interesting statistic.

—MLB Stats (@MLBStats) March 2, 2023
As seen in the graphic, Betts is the only player since 2016 to score 700 or more runs while also posting an OPS of .900 or better.
Betts has certainly accomplished a lot during his career.
The 30-year-old has won an MVP, two World Series titles, five Silver Slugger Awards, a batting title, six Gold Gloves, an MLB Player of the Year Award, and a Defensive Player of the Year Award.
He has also been an All-Star six times.
But with the stats he’s been able to post in the early stages of his career, Betts is clearly on the right track in terms of becoming one of the greatest to ever play the game.
He’ll compete with Team USA next week when the World Baseball Classic finally gets started and he’ll have a chance to put his skills to the test in a legendary event.
But it’s no secret that he is on his way to becoming one of the greatest players of all time.
