The MLB is the one league where players receive massive guaranteed contracts.
Since there is no salary cap in the league, some of the contracts going around are astronomical.
But, the MLB has never seen a player like Shohei Ohtani.
The Los Angeles Angels superstar is both an elite hitter and pitcher.
His next contract is expected to be the largest in MLB history.

After this upcoming season, Ohtani will be an unrestricted free agent.
It seems very likely that he will hit the open market, and look for the largest contract possible.
Ohtani is entering his sixth MLB season, all with the Angels.
But, he has yet to play in the playoffs during that time.
Despite having the two best players in the American League (Ohtani and Mike Trout) the Angels can not get to the playoffs.
So it makes sense that Ohtani will look to play elsewhere, with the hopes of finding a contending team.
The two teams that stand out who have always spent the most are the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Both would have a major interest in Ohtani and have the most to give him what he is looking for.
What will be interesting is if the Angels decide to trade Ohtani during the upcoming season.
If they do not think they can re-sign him, it would make sense to trade him for a massive package.
If LA has another bad year, do not be surprised if Ohtani is in a new uniform.
