Team Mexico made a statement on Sunday night during their matchup with the defending champion Team USA.

The team busted out for 11 runs handed the Americans their first loss of the World Baseball Classic.

After Sunday’s statement win, Mexico could potentially have a deep run in them this spring, as they look to unseat the Americans at the top.

MLB Network insider Jon Morosi certainly thinks so.

Following Mexico’s 11-5 win, Morosi appeared on “High Heat” to discuss what could come next for the team and stated that he believed this team could make a very deep run in the World Baseball Classic this spring.

Team Mexico is loaded with stars such as Alex Verdugo, Randy Arozarena, Joey Meneses, Taijuan Walker, Luis Urias, and others.

Morosi discussed the team’s starting rotation and how it could ultimately carry them to the final four.

In addition to Walker, Mexico has left-handers Patrick Sandoval and Julio Urias in their starting rotation, as well as Jose Urquidy and Luis Cessa.

Morosi praised Sandoval and Urias for their efforts and also commented on how Walker and Urquidy could help take Team Mexico to the semifinals.

Walker and Urquidy have still yet to pitch in this round.

Morosi finally commented on Arozarena, who brought out his famous boots for Sunday’s game.

He had worn those boots very frequently during the 2020 postseason, when he broke the single postseason home run record.

Morosi stated that he believes it’s a good luck charm and that when he wears the boots, good things happen.
