The San Francisco Giants have received a significant boost thanks to the emergence of Casey Schmitt and Patrick Bailey.

Bailey has taken the starting catcher spot and is hitting for a .330 average with four home runs, 22 RBI, and a spectacular OPS of .921.

Since his debut, the Giants are 17-7 in games he has started.

He homered on Friday night as the Giants rallied from behind to defeat the young upstart Arizona Diamondbacks in the series opener.

On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network pointed out just how much of an effect Bailey has had on the team and called for it to be a bigger story.

Bailey has been a solid addition to the Giants and has helped them get hot at the right time.

San Francisco rebounded from a tough 10-0 loss to the San Diego Padres and won their 11th game in 12 tries.

But Bailey has helped guide the Giants back to prominence this season after they fell short of expectations last year.

San Francisco is 43-33 and leads the Wild Card race.

And with Bailey in the lineup, the Giants have done plenty of damage against their opponents.

The Giants also moved within 2.5 games of the D-Backs for the top spot in the NL West.

The 24-year-old catcher is even reaching base at a .361 clip and has posted a .560 slugging percentage.

Bailey’s emergency has helped put the Giants back in playoff position and may soon be getting the attention that he deserves after keying the team’s most recent hot streak.
