MLB Insider Comments On Gavin Lux’s Situation

The Los Angeles Dodgers were dealt an unfortunate blow on Monday when Gavin Lux, who was set to take the reins at the shortstop position, was carted off the field after suffering an apparent knee injury.

News emerged Tuesday saying he tore his ACL, which makes losing Trea Turner in free agency hurt even more.

The Dodgers do have options, but without Lux, they find themselves in an unfortunate position.

MLB insider Jon Morosi stopped by MLB Network to discuss where the Dodgers will go from here and who their in-house options are to take over at the shortstop position while Lux recovers.

He sustained the injury while running from second base to third base in yesterday’s Cactus League game against the San Diego Padres.

Morosi discussed the Dodgers’ options at shortstop, putting a special emphasis on players such as Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor.

Rojas’ defensive versatility makes him an attractive option.

Taylor too, is quite versatile and could inherit the position for the time being.

The team could potentially go outside of the organization to find a replacement.

The current prognosis on Lux is a major blow for the team so early in the year.

Los Angeles could potentially look to swing a deal with a team such as the St. Louis Cardinals, who don’t have a clear spot for former All-Star Paul DeJong.

But the Dodgers do possess two solid internal options if they prefer to stay in-house while they wait for Lux to return.
