MLB’s renaissance when it comes to fan attendance and popularity continues, with some really great numbers on the weekend that just finished.
The league’s communication department reported some really promising realities and situations.
“It was a Red-hot attendance weekend across all of @MLB: * Best-attended Sunday since 2008 with more than 600,000 fans. * Best average attendance for a Sunday since 2014. * First back-to-back weekends of more than 1.5 million fans since 2017,” they tweeted, along with some other numbers.

The fact they used Cincinnati Reds infielder Elly De La Cruz as the poster boy for this graphic is pretty telling: he has quickly become one of the most popular players in the league.
Let’s analyze the numbers.
It was the best-attended Sunday in 15 years, with everything that means after some rough post-pandemic and post-lockout years.
For the first time in six years, the league reports back-to-back weekends of more than 1.5 million fans in the stands.
Hopefully, fans understand the magnitude of this success.
After everything the league, players, and fans have had to endure, baseball is living a honeymoon.
Of course, the league is not perfect and clearly has its problems: the Oakland Athletics situation being one.
However, it’s hard to ignore how things have been changing for the better in the last couple of years.
The introduction of new, exciting rules and the emergence of thrilling stars such as De La Cruz have drawn more and more people to the stadiums and in front of their TVs.
Baseball, you could say, is officially back.
It never fully left, but it’s good to see its popularity rising again.
