Oakland Athletics star catcher Sean Murphy might soon be a hot commodity on the trade market as the offseason unfolds.
The Athletics catcher hit .250 with 18 home runs and 66 RBI during the 2022 regular season.
With the offseason now upon us, there appear to be several teams who could use Murphy’s services.
Oakland finished 60-102 during the regular season, and the expectation is that Murphy will soon be on the move.
One MLB fan listed a few teams that could potentially target Murphy in trade talks.
A few of the teams on the list include the St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants.
The Sean Murphy market is one to watch this offseason. The St. Louis Cardinals seem to be at the top of the board teams notwithstanding with interest, but don’t count out the Brewers, Yankees, or Giants as potential dark horse candidates to land the star catcher.

Potential Suitors For Murphy
These are some interesting fits for Murphy.
The Cardinals have an obvious need for a catcher following the departure of Yadier Molina and have stated that they intend to pursue a front-line catcher this offseason.
Murphy could be the perfect fit for the Cards.
The Brewers are also an interesting fit.
Catcher Omar Narvaez is a free agent, so that leaves an opening for a catcher in Milwaukee.
The Yankees and Giants would obviously not be widely considered the favorites for Murphy.
New York has an All-Star catcher in Jose Trevino behind the plate, so if they intend to acquire Murphy, one would assume that Trevino would be included in a potential trade package.
The same can be said for the Giants, who currently have Joey Bart as their starting catcher.
Bart was widely considered to be the heir to the throne following Buster Posey’s retirement, but could be on the move if the Giants intend to pursue Murphy.
