March is a special month for many reasons.
Of course, we have NCAA March Madness to look forward to.
It also means the beginning of spring and the start of another year of Major League Baseball.
But it’s also an important month, as it is the time of year when we celebrate Women’s History Month.
It’s important to understand and appreciate what women do for not only our society, but the sports world as well.
On Twitter, MLB posted a nice message, stating that women belong in baseball and stressing the importance of celebrating a special month such as this.
Whether it’s on the field or off the field, women belong in baseball.

This month, MLB will be celebrating the many talented women who have contributed to the history of baseball.
When Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier back in 1947, he didn’t do it alone or without support.
Behind him was his wife, Rachel Robinson, who to this day continues to have a positive impact on the game of baseball.
We’ve also seen some women slide into coaching roles in recent years.
Alyssa Nakken took a role on the San Francisco Giants coaching staff several years ago, becoming the first woman to serve in a coaching role with a Major League organization.
Last season, Rachel Balkovec became the first female manager in professional baseball history.
She currently is managing the Tampa Tarpons, a minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees.
Beyond the field of play, the Miami Marlins have Kim Ng running their baseball operations department as the general manager.
Women continue to make a positive impact on baseball, and it’s important to understand what they bring to the game.
