Monday night’s game between Team Mexico and Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic was nothing short of legendary.
After Mexico jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Luis Urias’ three-run homer, Japan was quiet offensively.
That is, until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Boston Red Sox slugger Masataka Yoshida tied the game with a three-run blast of his own.
Mexico regained the lead and went ahead by a score of 5-3 on hits by Alex Verdugo and Isaac Paredes, but Japan wasn’t done, and rallied for three unanswered runs, winning the game on a walk-off two-run double by Munetaka Murakami.
Japan will now meet Team USA in the championship game.
After the thrilling conclusion of the game, MLB Network analysts Dave Fleming and Yonder Alonso raved about the excitement and drama.
“My goodness, this is a game we are going to be looking back on for years to come.”

This may have been one of the most memorable WBC games of all time.
Japan had to rally from two late deficits to secure the win.
It was certainly a seesaw battle as well.
Alonso stated that Monday’s game is one that fans will be looking back on for years to come.
He also praised Mexico for their efforts and for making the game so exciting.
Mexico certainly didn’t quit after losing their 3-0 lead, quickly putting themselves back in front.
Alonso continued to rave about the game, discussing the grit shown by both sides throughout the game and citing key moments that sparked rallies, such as Shohei Ohtani’s ninth-inning double.
That double sparked Japan’s second comeback, which sent them to the WBC final.
