MLB Analyst Discusses Fits For Michael Wacha

As we move closer and closer to the start of spring training, right-hander Michael Wacha has still yet to be signed.

The 31-year-old bounced back from a tough 2021 with an 11-2 record and 3.32 ERA with the Boston Red Sox in 2023.

To many peoples’ surprise, the veteran righty is still available, but there are plenty of MLB teams that could still use a starting pitcher.

Late on Thursday, analysts on MLB Network discussed the former All-Star and threw out a couple of ideas for potential fits as the chaos of the offseason winds down and we inch closer to spring training and the start of a new season.

There were several interesting fits mentioned here.

The Minnesota Twins were brought up as a possibility.

After the signing of Carlos Correa, the Twins have made it clear that they intend to find a way to reach the postseason in 2023.

The team has missed October in each of the previous two seasons.

The Twins do have Tyler Mahle, Sonny Gray, and Joe Ryan in their rotation.

But adding a veteran like Wacha to the mix wouldn’t hurt.

The Baltimore Orioles were also mentioned.

This is a team that was expected to be a little bit more aggressive this offseason after winning 83 games during the regular season.

They fell short of the postseason by only three games.

They did add Kyle Gibson, but could use another arm.

Finally, the San Francisco Giants were mentioned.

They lost Carlos Rodon to the New York Yankees.

San Francisco still has plenty of depth after adding Sean Manaea and Ross Stripling.

However, another veteran presence could help them, and they do have experience catching lightning in a bottle with pitchers.
