Upon taking over the New York Mets as the new owner in 2020, Steve Cohen had said that he wanted to win a World Series within his first three seasons.
Two campaigns have come and gone since he said that, and the 2023 one will be the third.
Could the Mets win their first World Series since 1986, when Cohen enjoyed it as a fan?
They very well could, but now that he has been at the helm for almost three years, he understands how hard it is just to get to the Fall Classic.
When asked about if not winning the last series of the season would be a failure, his answer definitely reflected maturity.
He didn’t guarantee a World Series victory like he used to, but he did provide a great answer.

The Mets won 101 games last year and didn’t even make it past the first round of the postseason.
That’s how hard it is to win in the playoffs.
They involve a randomness element that has a lot to do with small sample size.
The Mets are even better this year, perhaps the best team in the National League.
That still doesn’t guarantee anything, and Cohen has understood that.
He has, however, put his team in the best possible position to win it all.
