The World Baseball Classic is fast approaching.
The action will begin next Wednesday, March 8.
Each country is stacked with talented stars on their respective rosters, and soon, we’ll have the chance to watch each team battle it out to determine who truly has the best and most elite talent.
New York Mets legend David Wright certainly had his fair share of great moments in the WBC.
He picked up a walk-off single against Team Puerto Rico back in the 2009 Classic, which sent Team USA to the semifinals.
Today, the former Mets superstar recalled his WBC experience, discussing what it’s like to play in the tournament and how it ultimately sparks some good-natured trash talk.

Wright was first asked about why he considers his big hit one of the best moments of his career, and he recalled his teammates tackling him after the winning runs scored.
Wright talked about how special it was for him to represent Team USA, discussing how he took pride in wearing the USA logo across his chest.
He also discussed how fun it was for him and other players around the league to come together for such a great moment, including players from the Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies, two teams who are intense rivals.
Wright hit a grand slam and drove in 10 runs during the WBC in 2013.
However, he was injured and Team USA fell short.
Wright talked about his grand slam and how it was also one of the best moments of his storied career and one he’ll never forget.
He also recalled looking into Team Israel’s dugout and trash-talking Mets legend Mike Piazza.
Wright remembers the moment fondly and said that that aspect of the WBC is one of the things that makes it so special.
