Just when you think the New York Mets’ season can’t get any worse, they find a new way to lose.

On Sunday, the Mets held a 6-3 lead going into the eighth inning against the Philadelphia Phillies.

But his bullpen proceeded to blow the lead in the worst way possible.

It took the Phillies just one hit to take the lead.

The Mets relievers walked three batters, had a reach on error, and hit two more batters to lose the lead.

According to Awful Announceing, the Mets announcers were shocked by this total collapse.

This was the worst loss of the season for the Mets.

Leading by three runs into the eighth inning, that’s a game no team can afford to lose.

But, the Mets have been a mess all season.

Their record dropped to 35-42 on the year and they are now 15 games out of first place in the NL East.

Their only hope of making the playoffs will be through the wild card.

It will be interesting to see what moves the Mets intend to make at the trade deadline.

They could always choose to be a seller and build for the next season if they think the hole they find themselves in is unbridgeable.

Every season, the Mets enter with World Series aspirations.

But it looks like this will be another year where they miss their target.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone if the Mets decide to make some big changes to their coaching staff if they continue down this path.
