On Wednesday, the Miami Marlins held off a late rally by the Seattle Mariners to avoid a sweep at T-Mobile Park.
However, the opportunity to do so was nearly wasted.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Marlins led the Mariners by a score of 4-0 with one out and Eugenio Suarez at the plate for Seattle.
Suarez hit a deep drive to right field that appeared to be headed for the seats for a game-tying grand slam.
However, Marlins right fielder Jesus Sanchez had other ideas.
The young outfielder leapt at the right field wall and pulled it down, robbing Suarez of a grand slam.
A run scored to make it 4-1, but the Mariners missed their chance to tie the game.

This ball was inches away from departing the field of play at T-Mobile Park.
However, that didn’t bother Sanchez.
After he made the play, the crowd in Seattle was stunned in disbelief.
Sanchez then celebrated his grab and turned to the crowd as if to get in their faces about robbing the home run.
He was met with a smashing of boos as a result.
But he had every right to celebrate his play.
That put the Marlins one out away from a win.
Miami ultimately secured the victory and prevented a sweep, improving their record to 38-31 on the season, remaining 4.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves for the top spot in the National League East.
Miami has won seven of their last 10 games.
