The Miami Marlins made a few key moves this offseason, adding veteran pitchers Matt Barnes and Johnny Cueto, as well as the reigning American League batting champion in Luis Arraez.

Cueto was a free agent signing, while Barnes and Arraez were trade acquisitions.

But the team has made a few more additions as well, adding some key veteran players in Yuli Gurriel and Jose Iglesias.

Both were signed to minor league deals

Ken Rosenthal was the first to report the news of the Marlins recent signings.

On Twitter, Jon Heyman of the New York Post confirmed Rosenthal’s reports of the Marlins’ latest transactions.

Gurriel is coming off somewhat of a down year with the Houston Astros.

The slugger hit just eight home runs and hit for a .242 average.

However, he has been a part of several great teams in Houston, two of which won World Series titles.

He also brings some power to Marlins camp and should have an opportunity to make the team’s Opening Day roster.

For his career, Gurriel has a .284 average and has hit a total of 94 home runs.

Iglesias also brings a key veteran presence.

He could serve as a utility infielder for the Marlins if he does in fact make the Opening Day roster.
