Mark DeRosa is set to lead Team USA in the World Baseball Classic six years after the team won the tournament.

Back in 2017, the last time the Classic was played, Team USA emerged victorious and took home the title.

This year, their goals remain the same.

With MLB stars such as Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber, Paul Goldschmidt, Trea Turner, Nolan Arenado, Pete Alonso, and Mike Trout, the Americans look prepared to begin their title defense and have a repeat performance.

On Wednesday night, Team USA was playing an exhibition spring training game against the San Francisco Giants.

The Giants broadcast team was speaking with DeRosa during the game, who expressed excitement for the start of the tournament and stated what the goals are for the team.

DeRosa discussed how the team’s chemistry has been built over the past couple of days.

He says that all they want to do is win the tournament.

DeRosa even mentioned asking certain players if they were okay with getting a night off, and those players responding by saying it wasn’t a problem and that the main goal is to win the Classic and bring home the trophy for the United States.

He said that each player on the roster was hoping to have the chance to compete in the WBC, but that he didn’t feel like he had to guarantee anything.

All that matters to the stars on the roster is being part of the team and pulling together as they fight for another WBC title.
