The Washington Nationals are a team that is still in the midst of their rebuilding phase.
However, there are plenty of young players who are ready to make an impact and usher in a new era of Nationals baseball.
One of those stars is shortstop Luis Garcia, who had himself quite a day on Friday against the New York Mets.
Washington was facing an old friend in Mets ace Max Scherzer.
The veteran right-hander was facing Garcia, but it didn’t end well for him.
Garcia absolutely hammered the pitch out to deep right field as it left Clover Park with no doubts.

Garcia knew this was gone the second he hit it, and so did Scherzer.
The announcers of the Mets clearly recognized this as well, with Gary Cohen going as far as to say that we can forget about that baseball.
There really was no doubt that this was a home run, but here is yet another reason for the Nationals to be excited about Garcia.
The power numbers are still coming along for the young infielder, but his bat is clearly on the right track.
Last season, he hit just seven home runs, but had an average of .275, an on-base percentage of .295, and a slugging percentage of .408.
And he certainly put a charge into this one.
Even more impressive is that it came off of Scherzer, his former teammate and a three-time Cy Young Award winner.
This could be a good sign for the Nationals as they look towards the future.
