Kyrie Irving: thinking about Phoenix and with Philadelphia on the horizon

Kyrie Irving is once again one of the great entertainers on the NBA market. Being an unrestricted free agent, we have been hearing different rumors about his new destination for a long time, but it has not been until now when the information has directly boiled over.

For weeks (we would say months) there has been speculation that the point guard has already closed an agreement to continue in Dallas; however, in recent days other options are appearing: some bizarre, others unexpected.

Regarding the former, the information that most attracts attention is that reported by Chris Haynes from Bleach Report. According to this journalist, the point guard intends to reunite with the Phoenix Suns when the free agency period begins. Just reading it sounds crazy for many reasons: there are already three superstars in Arizona, financially it seems impossible, I would play again with Kevin Durant…

The certain thing is that the appearance of the Suns has had little journey. The local journalist and specialist in the team, Jon Gambadoro, has been the first to categorically rule out that the Suns are going to meet with Irving.

With the Arizonans off the board we could stick with the Mavericks again, but the point is that recent events have opened an unexpected door. As Brian Windhorst of ESPNThe announced departure of James from Philadelphia (he has requested the transfer) makes the Sixers a potential destination for Irving.

It’s not easy, but it’s not impossible either. In this case we are talking about the deadlines being correct. If the 76ers release Harden before the moratorium period, they could enter the fight for Kyrie. It would be a clear case of ‘a king dead, king set’.

And what does Irving want?

Well, it seems that his choice will not be about money or winning options, but that he will opt for a place where he feels he can put down roots. As explained in ESPNthe point guard’s intention is to commit long-term to a project in which he can spend the rest of his career. It sounds as good as it is pretty, but… can he make it happen? Irving has not been characterized in his career by being comfortable anywhere. He requested the transfer in Cleveland, he went wrong in Boston, he demanded his departure from Brooklyn again… Whoever receives it must be aware of possible complications.
