Kyrie Irving stays with Dallas Mavericks

It was what had sounded the most and it has come true. Kyrie Irving has closed a three-year, $126 million contract to remain with the Dallas Mavericks: reports Shams Charania of the athletic.

Although in recent days other options such as the Philadelphia 76ers had been mentioned, the truth is that months ago it was leaked that the All-Star point guard had reached an agreement to continue in Texas, although it could not be made public until free agency arrived. Well, he has arrived and in less than an hour his stay with Luka Doncic has been confirmed.

Regarding the contract that will unite Irving with the Mavs, this includes a player option for the third year, which gives the player the possibility of leaving it in 2025.

Although Irving had already given clues by pointing out on several occasions that he loved playing with Doncic and that he wanted to continue discovering what they could achieve together, it is no less true that there were doubts that he had changed his mind in recent dates.

With this renewal, Dallas gives more sense to the movement it made when the transfer market was close to closing. Then he bet heavily on Kyrie and now he is doing it again despite the fact that in the 2022-23 campaign they were not able to enter the playoffs.
