The San Francisco 49ers were able to find success in 2022 from an unsuspecting quarterback.
After Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo suffered injuries, he was up to seventh-round pick, Brock Purdy, to start for the team.
Purdy responded by winning all his games that he started during the regular season.
Ahead of the 2023 NFL season, the 49ers have recently lost Garoppolo to free agency, leaving themselves in the hands of Lance and a newcomer while Purdy is recovering from surgery.
Kyle Shanahan has recently commented on their quarterback situation moving forward.
Shanahan has recently targeted both Lance and Sam Darnold as players to receive first-team reps in the offseason.

Darnold was added during a free agency, signing a one-year contract with the 49ers.
Although he was selected third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Darnold hasn’t exactly lived up to the expectations that were placed on him.
In 2021, Darnold was traded to the Carolina Panthers, starting 17 games between two seasons.
Ultimately, it appears that he is a stopgap for the team while they wait for Purdy to become fully healthy.
Lance, on the other hand, was also selected third overall, but in the 2021 draft.
Whoever is the starter for this team in 2023 will be propelled by strong offensive weapons, and one of the league’s best defenses.
Will the 49ers be able to find similar success in 2023 that they did in 2022?
