When Kyle Schwarber hits a home run, it’s common for fans to refer to his blasts as “Schwarbombs” as a nice little play on words with his name.

Though the Philadelphia Phillies are off to a bit of a rough start, Schwarber is still providing the defending National League champions with an offensive spark.

On Thursday, Philadelphia fell to 4-9 on the season as they lost to the Cincinnati Reds by a final score of 6-2.

But Schwarber showed off his power in the series opener against the Reds, hitting a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to bring the Phils to within 4-2.

The veteran slugger’s home run came off of Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo.

It was already his fourth of the year.

Schwarber was signed to a five-year deal prior to the 2022 MLB season and played a huge role in the Phillies reaching the World Series last season.

In fact, he led the National League in home runs with 46.

So far, the power has been on full display and the slugger appears to be on track for yet another solid season at the plate.

The Phillies left fielder is hitting just .196 to start the new season, but he has posted a .739 OPS and has driven in seven runs.

The team is off to a bad start, but Schwarber is still swinging a hot bat and showing off his power.

The Phillies and Reds will continue their four-game series on Friday night, with the defending National League champions hoping to get back in the win column.
