The New York Jets have officially turned their attention to Derek Carr.
The Las Vegas Raiders thought he wasn’t the right fit for them anymore and decided to release him, but he’s far from done in this league.
The Jets reportedly loved what they saw from Carr during his visit, and they would be wise to go to him even if Aaron Rodgers is also available.
However, according to sports analyst Max Kellerman, he’s not a great QB that will give them a big shot at winning a Super Bowl, stating that he’s just a top-15 QB at best.
Notably, former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson respectfully disagreed, praising Carr and reaffirming that he would be a safer bet for the Jets.

Of course, no one needs to argue that Rodgers is a much better player than Carr; he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer and one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
But the Jets would have to give up a lot to get him, and he’ll be 39 years old by next season.
Carr, instead, is an unrestricted free agent and shouldn’t demand such a steep salary compared to Rodgers, and it’s not like they need an elite QB to get over the hump with all the talent they have on both sides of the football.
Also, Kellerman couldn’t even name 15 QBs that were better than Carr right now, and having a top-10 or top-12 QB isn’t such a bad thing, especially given the Jets’ history of poor QB play.
