A right leg strain will keep Karl-Anthony Towns in the dry dock for between four and six weeks, as announced by the journalist from ESPN, Adrian Wojnarowski. His recovery is expected to be optimal and he will return to the courts sometime next January.
The Minnesota Timberwolves inside underwent an MRI on Tuesday that showed no structural damage to the Achilles tendon, which was the franchise’s biggest concern in initial scans. Towns had left the game this Monday against the Washington Wizards after being injured in a non-contact play.
Although the worst fears have not been realized, the injury remains a major loss for a Timberwolves who currently sit 10th in the Western Conference with a 10-11 record. Towns, a three-time All-Star, has averaged 20.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists in his 21 games and is a vital component of the team’s offense.
