It was a year to remember for the Seattle Mariners and their young slugger Julio Rodriguez.

For the Mariners, it marked the end of the longest active postseason drought in baseball.

For Rodriguez, it marked the beginning of a new era.

The slugger hit .284 with 28 home runs, 75 RBI, and an .853 OPS.

That was enough to earn him an All-Star nod, a Silver Slugger Award, and American League Rookie of the Year honors.

On Thursday, Rodriguez got a chance to talk to MLB Network analysts Greg Amsinger and Dan Plesac, reflecting on his rookie season and what it meant for him to have accomplished so much.

The reigning Rookie of the Year said that the 2022 season was a dream season for him.

He says he feels proud of himself for having accomplished so many things and said that ending the postseason drought was special for him.

Seattle had not been to the postseason since 2001.

They had come close in 2021, having won 90 games.

However, they fell short.

90 wins was more than enough for them to reach October last season.

Rodriguez also says he is confident in what the Mariners have and believes that they’re in a good spot to compete for their first American League West title since 2001 and that his teammates are in a positive frame of mind about things as well.

Last season, Rodriguez had some issues with his back, but he says that he’s feeling good now and that the problems have been addressed.

He also expressed confidence in his routine as he prepares for his second season in the big leagues.
