Last season, the San Diego Padres had great success.

The team won 89 games and earned the second National League Wild Card.

They defeated the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers to reach the NLCS.

At the end of the season, slugger Juan Soto was named one of the National League’s nine Silver Slugger Award winners.

On Thursday, the young slugger finally received his award.

Prior to the Padres’ series-opening matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers, Soto was honored in a pregame ceremony, where he received his Silver Slugger Award and was saluted by a raucous crowd at Petco Park in San Diego.

Soto was acquired from the Washington Nationals at the trade deadline last year.

The 24-year-old finished the season with a .246 average, 27 home runs, 135 walks, 62 RBI, and an OPS of .853.

He then helped guide the Padres on a magical run to the NLCS, where they met the Philadelphia Phillies.

This is Soto’s third Silver Slugger Award.

He is also a two-time All-Star, a batting champion, a Home Run Derby champion, and a 2019 World Series champion with the Nationals.

Soto has been a solid middle-of-the-order presence since his MLB debut in 2018.

Now, he shares a lineup with stars such as Xander Bogaerts and Manny Machado.

The lineup will soon be at full strength when Fernando Tatis Jr. makes his highly-anticipated return from his PED suspension.

Though the Padres lost to the Brewers on Thursday, Soto still got a chance to experience a great moment in front of the San Diego faithful as he received his award.
