On Wednesday, St. Louis Cardinals rookie Jordan Walker continued his historic hit streak.
With his base-hit in the ninth inning, he tied Eddie Murphy for the most consecutive games with a hit by a rookie the age of 20 or younger to begin a career.
However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t more for him to accomplish.
If he gets a hit on Thursday against Pittsburgh, he will pass Murphy.
The all-time record for rookies of any age is 17 consecutive games.
On Twitter, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch pointed out that Walker could tie that record as soon as Monday with the Arizona Diamondbacks in town.
Jordan Walker will have a chance to own the #MLB record right back in St. Louis. What timing.
The record for a rookie of any age is 17 consecutive games to start a career. That could be Monday—also at Busch Stadium for #Cardinals. https://t.co/fGg5vDgbL3

In addition, Walker could break the record on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old has been off to a hot start.
He made the Cardinals Opening Day roster out of spring training after putting up some impressive numbers in Grapefruit League play.
Now, he’s earned the starting right field job for the Cardinals, who are looking to get back on track after a rough start to the season.
Walker’s ninth-inning hit sparked a rally and ultimately led to a run scoring on Paul Goldschmidt’s base-hit.
The Cardinals won by a final score of 7-4 and improved to 5-7 and moved to within three games of the first-place Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central.
Walker continues to swing a hot bat and provide a much-needed spark for the Cardinals on offense.
The young slugger is hitting .319 with two home runs to start the season.
The Cards right fielder also has an .849 OPS.
