Jalen Hurts is the present and future of the Philadelphia Eagles.
And if there was any doubt of that, GM Howie Roseman just shut them down by signing him to the largest contract in NFL history.
Hurts signed a five-year contract extension worth $255 million with as many as $179 million in guarantees.
More than that, they also included a no-trade clause, which NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported is the first of such kind in the history of the franchise.
The no-trade clause is the first in #Eagles history—a sign both of their faith in him as their franchise QB and Howie Roseman’s commitment to getting the deal done. https://t.co/iEkNoiwcsx

That shows the kind of commitment that the organization has made to their young star, which was well deserved after the notorious and significant improvement he made between seasons.
Hurts showed glimpses of great play in his first couple of years in the league, and there were several doubts about his ability to become a perennial starter at the NFL level.
He was also doubted early in his college career, being benched on national television in favor of Tua Tagovailoa and later having to transfer to showcase his skills and get a chance in the NFL.
That kind of determination and relentless work ethic shaped Hurts into the leader he is nowadays, and he’s the kind of guy everyone in the organization would run through a brick wall for.
Now, he’ll need to be even better, as signing such a historic deal will also come with a big burden and weight on his shoulders for years to come.
But if history has taught us something, it’s that Jalen Hurts will never crumble under pressure.
