It’s safe to say that Thursday night was one to forget for the New York Yankees as they squared off against the Seattle Mariners.
Seattle busted out for 10 runs at Yankee Stadium and ended up winning the ballgame by a final score of 10-2.
The two runs scored by the Yankees came on a home run from an unlikely power source.
The home run was hit by infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the bottom of the ninth.
Interestingly though, he hit the home run after having pitched a scoreless top of the ninth.
On Twitter, the MLB podcast “Talkin’ Baseball” posted a video of the home run hit by Kiner-Falefa.

Kiner-Falefa pitched the top of the ninth after the Yankees made the decision to save their bullpen, marking a rare occurrence of a position player taking the mound.
But he accomplished something even more impressive in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a two-run homer off of reliever Chris Flexen to get the Yankees on the board.
And he managed to do it after the Yankees had tapped him to make an emergency pitching performance.
Kiner-Falefa didn’t allow a run in the top of the ninth and went straight to work in the bottom half, getting the Yankees on the board with his two-run homer.
New York still ultimately fell and dropped to 41-34 on the season, but Kiner-Falefa certainly did his job despite a brutal loss.
