Ikaris Vs. Superman (Who Would Win?)

Many comic book fans may think that Marvel’s Ikaris and DC’s Superman are very similar.

They share similar powers and both fight for justice.

However, if the two were ever to face off, you might be wondering who’d edge the other out and win the fight.

Ikaris Vs. Superman (Who Would Win?)

In a fight between Ikaris and Superman, Superman would most likely win.

By comparing each hero’s powers, it’s easy to see which hero has a slight edge over the other.

Let’s look at their powers in detail to determine why Superman would win.

Ikaris’s Powers

1. Immortal

Perhaps one of the most important powers that Ikaris has is his immortality.

As an Eternal, he’s kept alive with cosmic energy.

That cosmic energy prevents him from dying of old age or falling ill.

However, it doesn’t mean Ikaris is invulnerable.

If he takes enough damage, he could die.

As an example, during the story arc involving the Dark Celestials, the Eternals discover that their purpose on Earth had been a lie.

Instead of helping humans, they had only been preparing them for the eventual harvesting by the Celestials.

The revelation makes many of the Eternals go mad.

Ikaris ends up killing himself as a result.

Clearly, although Ikaris is immortal in the sense that he doesn’t grow old or sick, he is able to die.

2. Superhuman Strength

Another important power that Ikaris has is his superhuman strength.

He’s able to perform certain feats of strength that few mortals can do.

In a fight against Superman, his superhuman strength would come in handy.

It may do just enough damage to injure Superman or slow him down.

3. Superhuman Durability

Another important power that Ikaris has is his superhuman durability.

This goes hand in hand with his immortality.

Although his immortality makes it so he can’t die of old age or disease, it’s his superhuman durability that means he can last in a fight.

Superman packs some serious punches.

The fact that Ikaris has superhuman durability means he can take more damage than usual.

This suggests that if Superman does get a few hits in, Ikaris can survive the blow and keep the fight going.

His ability to absorb damage gives Ikaris a bit of an edge in a fight against Superman.

4. Superhuman Stamina

It doesn’t matter how strong or durable you are in a fight if you run out of energy.

It all comes down to stamina.

If you get too tired to keep fighting, then you’re going to lose.

When you’re tired, you’re unable to defend yourself or attack.

In the case of Ikaris, that isn’t something he has to worry about that much.

He has superhuman stamina.

This essentially means that he doesn’t get tired nearly as fast as other heroes.

Even among superheroes, those who don’t have superhuman stamina are likely going to be unable to keep up with him.

In a fight against Superman, superhuman stamina would definitely come in handy.

Considering Superman’s strength, Ikaris would need to use his superhuman stamina to wear down the Man of Steel.

Only once Superman grew tired would Ikaris have a chance to put him down for good.

5. Regeneration

While superhuman durability is good, the ability to regenerate is even better.

When Ikaris is injured, his body naturally regenerates at a faster rate.

This makes the battle a bit more even because it means if Superman does land a blow on Ikaris, two things affect that blow.

The first is Ikaris’s superhuman durability.

Superman would have to hit him hard enough to break past that durability first.

Then, he’d have to keep hitting Ikaris hard enough and fast enough to ramp up the damage before it regenerates.

Otherwise, Ikaris would just be regenerating so fast that any damage he takes wouldn’t last.

Being able to quickly recover from his injuries also gives Ikaris a slight edge in his fight with Superman.

6. Flight

When it comes to fighting Superman, a problem that some enemies face is the inability to reach the superhero.

Superman can fly.

He uses that ability against his enemies by flying off, then flying back in at a super speed and hitting them.

If you’re an enemy on the ground, then you’re going to find a battle against Superman very difficult.

That isn’t the case with Ikaris.

Ikaris also has the ability to fly.

He’s able to take the fight to the skies with Superman.

If Superman flies off, then Ikaris can easily pursue him.

It also means that Superman won’t be able to fly off, disappear, then come in for a surprise attack.

Ikaris can easily keep up with him.

7. Telepathy

Another power that Ikaris has is his ability to telepathically speak to others.

In a fight, telepathy may not seem that useful, but it has its uses.

If Ikaris wanted, then he could speak to Superman throughout the fight.

He may taunt or threaten him in an attempt to make Superman make a mistake.

He may not be successful.

It may not even be something Ikaris does since he’s a superhero himself, but it is a tool that he can use against Superman.

Threatening Lois Lane, for example, might get Superman’s blood hot.

8. Telekinesis

A more useful power that Ikaris has is his ability to manipulate objects with his mind.

He’s able to perform telekinesis.

This could be very helpful in a fight against Superman.

He’d be able to throw different objects at him while he’s coming for him.

For example, Ikaris might be able to use his telekinesis to throw cars and even buildings at Superman.

It may not cause much damage, but it might slow Superman down a bit.

That could give Ikaris the opportunity to try something else or cause more damage.

Telekinesis could be a very useful power to have in a fight against Superman.

9. Cosmic Energy Manipulation

Every superhero has that one particular power that makes them very powerful.

For Ikaris, his ability to manipulate cosmic energy exists in his cells.

Ikaris is able to use this energy by shooting them out of his eyes as beams.

He can change the sort of damage that they do.

In most cases, it’s either concussive damage or heat damage.

When he’s applying force damage, Ikaris is capable of causing force up to at least 260 pounds per square inch.

That’s a hard punch with his eyes alone.

His heat beams, which are often also called disintegration beams, are capable of generating up to 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

For most people, the touch of those beams would zap them right into ash.

Ikaris has used his heat beams to injure some of the toughest Marvel beings like Hercules, Thanos, and Red Hulk.

Superman has his own heat beams, too, but Ikaris’s ability to switch between force and heat could give him a slight edge.

The problem is that using his beams at their highest level makes him weak.

Ikaris has to recover for a time before using them again.

While he’s able to maintain his durability, remaining active isn’t as easy.

If Superman is able to survive or dodge the attack, then he could find Ikaris in a weakened state.

10. Teleportation

Another useful power Ikaris has is his ability to teleport.

Teleportation is useful in that Ikaris could simply vanish and appear at another point just as Superman comes in for a hit.

He likely can’t keep teleporting forever, but it could give him a bit of an advantage at the right moment.

Since Superman can’t teleport, he isn’t able to appear in any one location immediately.

Ikaris can, which, with the right plan, might enable him to get in some hits that Superman can’t defend against.

11. Heightened Senses

Heightened senses are another useful ability that some might overlook.

You can’t hit your opponent if you’re unable to perceive them.

Having heightened senses allows Ikaris to notice Superman even if he’s trying to get in a sneak attack.

For example, if Superman is flying at high speed toward Ikaris, there’s a good chance that Ikaris will be able to perceive him.

He can then react accordingly.

Superman’s Powers

1. Superhuman Strength

Like Ikaris, Superman also has superhuman strength.

Because Superman is an alien, whereas Ikaris an enhanced human, his level of strength is different.

Ikaris is as strong as the upper echelon of what human strength allows—with some modifications, of course.

Superman is an alien.

His level of strength is completely different from a human’s level of strength.

As such, Superman’s superhuman strength is likely stronger than Ikaris’s.

When compared, there’s a good chance that Superman hits harder than Ikaris.

2. Superhuman Speed

Another useful power that Superman has is his superhuman speed.

Ikaris doesn’t have superhuman speed.

This matters because it means Superman can run circles around him.

He’s able to move faster and hit faster.

Ikaris can certainly attempt to hit Superman or blast him with his heat beams, but Superman’s ability to move quickly means it will be harder for Ikaris to be successful.

Because of superhuman speed, Superman might have an edge over Ikaris.

3. Enhanced Leaping

Superman doesn’t just run fast or fly, he can also leap great distances.

While this might not help too much in a fight against someone who can fly, it may prove useful.

The most important thing is that Ikaris doesn’t have an enhanced leaping ability.

Superman might be able to use this power in the fight to his advantage.

4. Superhuman Durability

Like Ikaris, Superman also has superhuman durability.

He’s called the Man of Steel for a reason.

When you hit him, you’re more likely to break your own knuckles than actually cause him harm.

In a fight with Ikaris, who also has superhuman durability, this means the fight will likely last some time.

Each superhero is incapable of completely obliterating the other as they would normally with other enemies.

That means it might come down to other powers to give one particular superhero the edge over the other.

5. Heightened Senses

Superman also has heightened senses like Ikaris.

This means that he’s able to sense Ikaris just as much as Ikaris is able to sense him.

Essentially, neither hero is going to be able to sneak up on the other.

They’ll both see each other coming.

That means the fight is going to be even tougher between the two.

6. Invulnerability

While Ikaris is immortal, Superman is invulnerable.

This means that, in most cases, he can’t die.

If someone shoots him, the bullets just ricochet right off.

If they throw him into the sun or lava, he can get out without injury.

Superman is invulnerable to most types of damage.

That said, Superman is extremely vulnerable when exposed to kryptonite.

He becomes so weak that he can even die if exposed long enough.

As such, if Ikaris wanted to win the fight, then he’d need to get ahold of the appropriate type of kryptonite.

Otherwise, Ikaris will discover that his heat beams, force beams, and punches aren’t doing anything to Superman.

7. X-Ray Vision

Superman is also capable of X-Ray vision.

This allows him to see through buildings and other objects.

This is useful in a fight because it ensures that Superman sees everything around him.

If Ikaris is trying to sneak around a building to get in an attack, Superman will see him coming.

X-Ray vision is useful because it allows Superman to remain aware of his surroundings.

8. Heat Vision

Superman shares another similar power with Ikaris.

He’s able to use heat vision.

Superman’s heat vision allows him to melt metal just like Ikaris.

As such, the two would have a difficult time melting each other since they’re both capable of doing it.

Due to Superman’s invulnerability, however, there’s a chance that Ikaris’s power won’t help him here.

Superman, on the other hand, would likely be able to damage Ikaris.

That’s because while Ikaris is immortal, he isn’t invulnerable.

If Superman could use his heat vision long enough, then he might be able to damage Ikaris to the point beyond his ability to regenerate.

9. Telescopic And Microscopic Vision

Superman is also able to adjust his vision.

He has both telescopic and microscopic vision.

It’s his telescopic vision that would help Superman in a fight against Ikaris.

He’d be able to see Ikaris coming from miles away.

Because he has heightened senses as well, Superman would be able to tell where Ikaris is coming from and react accordingly.

This further ensures Ikaris can’t get the jump on him.

10. Superhuman Breath

Superman also possesses breath power.

It’s mostly seen as frost, but he could likely use it as force damage, too.

If using his frost ability, Superman could attempt to freeze Ikaris.

The fact that Superman is faster than Ikaris means he might be able to freeze him before Ikaris can do anything.

Outside of freezing Ikaris, Superman could also use his breath weapon to knock Ikaris back through force damage alone.

11. Superhuman Stamina

Stamina is important in a fight.

The fact that Superman also has superhuman stamina means he won’t get tired of fighting Ikaris either.

The result would likely be a fight that ends up lasting for a very long time.

It may not even have an end.

Both heroes are able to stay in the fight since neither is going to grow tired.

The only exception is if Ikaris uses his heat beams at max power or if Superman gets exposed to kryptonite.

Either of those incidents could completely change the game.

12. Regeneration

Like Ikaris, Superman is also capable of regenerating.

However, Superman usually has to regenerate while exposed to the sun.

He relies on the radiation from the sun to remain strong and energetic.

Without the sun, he could become weak.

As such, Superman can regenerate but only to a certain extent.

If Ikaris were to fight him underground, for example, and keep him there, then there’s a chance that Superman might not have enough energy to regenerate.

Ikaris, on the other hand, naturally regenerates.

He doesn’t need exposure to anything to do so.

As such, he stands to regenerate a bit more reliably than Superman.

13. Flight

Finally, both Superman and Ikaris can fly.

At the very least, this means Superman can take off after Ikaris and keep the fight going.

He doesn’t have to worry about Ikaris flying off and then flying back in for a surprise attack.

Superman can keep right up with him.

Conclusion

Both Superman and Ikaris share quite a few powers.

However, because Ikaris is merely an enhanced human and Superman is an alien, their levels of strength and stamina are different.

The fight would be extremely tough, but Superman has just a few more powers and abilities that put him ahead of Ikaris in a fight.
