Guardians await health update on Terry Francona

There were some scary moments at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Tuesday night.

Mandy Bell, an informant for the Cleveland Rangers, reported that manager Terry Francona was not feeling well just before the game against the Kansas City Royals.

Francona, a former World Series champion and Manager of the Year winner, underwent tests at a Kansas City hospital.

Bench coach DeMarlo Hale managed the Guardians in the game, one they went on to win, 2-1.

Bell sent out a brief update on the situation Tuesday night, but not many details were available.

“A little update now: Tito will spend the night in the hospital for observation. We won’t know more until tomorrow,” he tweeted.

It’s important to note that Francona has had some health-related issues in recent years, and some of them have even affected his availability during the season.

In 2020, he lost time with gastrointestinal problems and blood clots.

The following year, he underwent surgeries on his hip and toe.

The entire baseball universe is paying attention to Francona’s situation, as he is a well-loved and respected figure in the game.

He led the Guardians to an unlikely AL Division Series appearance last year after a phenomenal regular season.

This year, his Guards haven’t looked as good with a 38-40 record, but they’re just a half-game behind the Minnesota Twins in the standings.

As their bench and spiritual leader, the Guardians need Francona to be healthy to achieve their season goals.

I hope so and this is just a scare.
