The St. Louis Cardinals made a key roster decision late last week, adding top prospect Jordan Walker to the mix for Opening Day.
Walker had a strong spring training and ultimately earned himself a spot on the Opening Day roster.
But the Cardinals knew what they had in the top prospect and believed that he was ready to make an impact at the big-league level.
On Twitter, MLB posted a graphic that featured some of Walker’s stats from his days in the minor leagues.

Needless to say, the stats show just how dominant Walker has been at that level and why the Cardinals ultimately believe he is ready for the majors.
Walker has played 201 games in the minor leagues.
In those 201 games, the 20-year-old hit for a .310 batting average, posted a .913 OPS, and hit 33 home runs.
Walker’s power is something that the Cardinals are obviously very excited about.
Though their only big offensive addition was Willson Contreras, Walker could be the missing piece that may elevate their lineup to elite status.
With Tyler O’Neill winning the center field job, Walker could ultimately take the designated hitter role or even one of the corner outfield spots.
With Dylan Carlson’s struggles a season ago, the door has opened for Walker to do some damage and show the baseball world what he is made of.
He’ll have big shoes to fill with Albert Pujols gone, but the Cardinals are high on him and believe that he is ready for a starting job at the big-league level, whether he serves as a corner outfielder or a DH.
