Giants Insider Shares New Sterling Shepard Update

The New York Giants were one of the most surprising playoff teams in 2022.

There weren’t many expectations for them to succeed heading into the year, considering their track record under Daniel Jones.

However, the Giants were not only able to make the playoffs this season but ended up beating the Minnesota Vikings in the first round.

This success from the Giants came despite their wide receiving corps, which was depleted for most of the season.

Sterling Shepard took a pay cut ahead of the 2022 season.

Unfortunately for both he and the team, Shepard played in just three games, amassing 13 receptions, 154 yards, and one touchdown.

Shepard is now a free agent, as the Giants haven’t signed him to a contract extension.

Assuming the Giants don’t bring him back, they will be left with a receiving cops of Richie James, Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Kenny Golladay.

The Giants have a pressing need to get a bonafide number-one receiver on their roster, especially given that Golladay hasn’t produced in the way that they would have hoped.

Jones leaped both as a passer and as a rusher this season.

If he is to continue on this career trajectory, the Giants will need to attack the position through the draft and free agency.

The NFC East will likely continue to be dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles.

If the Giants want any chance to compete with the Eagles, the receiver position must be addressed.

Who will the Giants add next season to build the strength of their roster?
