New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton was off to a fast start this season.
In 13 games, he was hitting .269 with seven runs, four homers, 11 RBI, and a cool .854 OPS.
However, he got hurt again.
It was a lower-body injury, again.
On Sunday, he was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
It was a Grade 2 strain, which will probably take him between four and six weeks to fully heal.
Although it’s definitely not his fault, the designated hitter offered a mea culpa that will help you understand the frustration an athlete feels when he is not able to compete because of a physical issue.
“Giancarlo Stanton on his injury: ‘It’s unacceptable. This often. The team relies on me and I can’t have this continue to happen and put us in a tough spot weren’t prepared for. It’s my duty and responsibility to be out there,’” The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner tweeted, quoting the 2017 NL MVP.

He feels guilty because he has been on the injured list very often in his Yankees tenure, which started in 2018.
His absence does put the Yankees in a tough spot, particularly because their outfield and DH depth is not very impressive.
However, it’s not his fault he suffers so many injuries.
Since it’s not the first rodeo for Stanton when it comes to lower-body aids, the Yankees are expected to proceed with extreme caution during his recovery, and it could be a bit more than the six weeks of the conservative end of the timeframe until we see him again.
He should be back up and running before the All-Star break, though, and the Yankees need his power bat.
