Gavin Lux Shares Statement After His Serious Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Gavin Lux looked like a legitimate breakout candidate for the 2023 campaign.

Despite having a solid .745 OPS and a 113 wRC+ in 471 trips to the plate in 2022, he hit just six home runs.

That, for an MLB regular, is a very low total.

Lux looked bulked up upon reporting to the Dodgers’ spring training complex.

He had the look of a player who could drive the ball and hit, at least, 15 home runs.

But those dreams will have to wait until the 2024 campaign.

This week, Lux tore his ACL while running the bases.

It was an awkward play in which he lost his balance and his right knee absorbed all the weight of his body for a second.

The knee bent in an awkward way, and poof: the ligament was damaged.

The player himself went to Twitter to thank his fans and the whole baseball community for sending him positive vibes and good thoughts.

“Just wanted to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers, means more than you all know!” I tweeted.

For a player who is down, sad, and facing a long recovery (he will be out for the remainder of the 2023 season), positive thoughts can mean the world.

Lux, a classy guy, made sure to thank everyone who has shown their support.

With these long-term injuries, mental health comes into play.

It’s important, therefore, for the rehab process to include specialists from several fields and lots of love and support.

We are sure we will see a better version of Lux when he returns in 2024.

If he works hard and keeps his spirits up, there is no reason to think he can’t return to 100 percent health next year.
