Fred VanVleet is the highest paid undrafted in history

A few hours before the opening of the new transfer period, the journalist Adrian Wojnarowski leaked the signing of Fred VanVleet by the Houston Rockets for the next 3 years at a rate of 130 million dollars.

The one who was a guard for the Raptors during the last seven seasons put an end to his time in Canada where he played more than 400 official games and won the NBA champion in 2019 after training for four courses at the University of Arkansas.

And as in the NBA there are always wonderful stories to tell. Today is the turn of VanVleet, who has become the highest paid undrafted player in league history with his new commitment to the Rockets.

VanVleet, out of the 2016 Draft access spots, reached an agreement with the Raptors to link up with their G League team. And although his beginnings were not easy, he ended up winning a standard contract in 2018, and two years later his first big contract came with an agreement for five seasons and a total of 90 million dollars, being the last optional course for him. .

In this free agent market, both his representative and VanVleet set themselves the goal of obtaining the largest possible pinch and, although his possible continuity in Toronto was not ruled out, it was the Rockets who have made an offer that is impossible to reject due to the need to both parties. VanVleet for landing his last big contract, and Houston for shoring up an inexperienced roster that can compete.

So VanVleet and Dillon Brooks (4 years and 80 million) will be the two new faces of the project led by Ime Udoka. In addition, they have also signed Jock Landale and veteran Jeff Green, who was with the team for a brief stint in 2020.
