Francisco Lindor Comments On Representing His Country

New York Mets star Francisco Lindor has played at a high level in MLB for years.

He has hit 184 home runs and stolen 125 bases; he has gone to four All-Star Games, he has won two Gold Gloves, a Platinum Glove, and two Silver Slugger awards.

Yet, he feels the happiest when he gets to play for Puerto Rico’s national baseball team.

Lindor is about to have “the time of his life” once again, as the World Baseball Classic will start soon.

He will be Puerto Rico’s captain and will lead the way for a really talented team that includes fellow big leaguers Jose Berrios, Marcus Stroman, Emilio Pagan, Edwin Diaz, Alexis Diaz, Kiké Hernandez, Javier Baez, Eddie Rosario, Christian Vazquez, Martin Maldonado and more.

Lindor has proudly represented Team Puerto Rico in international tournaments, most notably the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

In that edition, the Puerto Ricans came in second, as they lost the final game against the United States.

They also won the silver in 2013, but Lindor wasn’t part of that team and hadn’t made his MLB debut.

This time, he is much more mature as a player, as a person, and as a leader.

He understands that a close dugout and clubhouse will get far, and he demands his teammates to give their absolute best for the cause.

Lindor’s primary goal should be taking Puerto Rico to its third straight final, and from there, anything can happen.

He is good enough to be among the best players in the tournament, and why not, be crowned as the MVP.

His highest priority, however, is lifting that trophy on behalf of his country.
