The 2023 NFL Draft is less than a month away, with no consensus on which player will be taken No. 1 overall by the Carolina Panthers on April 27.
Although there’s no clearcut top prospect in the draft right now, the Panthers are expected to take a quarterback with the top pick, which narrows down the candidates considerably.
According to former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi, he believes Carolina will go with quarterback Bryce Young out of Alabama with the No. 1 overall pick in next month’s draft.

Other notable candidates at quarterback for the top spot in the draft include Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson out of Florida and Kentucky’s Will Levis.
All four of these quarterbacks appear to be in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and over the next few weeks leading up to draft day, it’ll likely become clear which player Carolina favors to be their new face of the franchise.
In his final year with the Crimson Tide, Young played in 12 games, throwing for 3,328 yards, 33 touchdowns and five interceptions.
Young also showed his ability to be a mobile quarterback rushing for 185 yards and four touchdowns.
The Panthers have struggled to find a suitable replacement at the quarterback position after the team parted ways with one-time NFL MVP Cam Newton.
If Carolina plays this right, they’ll have their quarterback of the future while also having the opportunity to take advantage of the weak NFC South division now that Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar quarterback Tom Brady has decided to walk away from the game.
