The Miami Dolphins are one of the NFL’s most historic franchises.
Their 1972 season remains the only undefeated season in NFL history, and the Dolphins have seen many superstar players and coaches come through their building.
Recently, one of their former centers announced his retirement, signing a one-day contract with the team to do so.
Former #dolphins center Mike Pouncey will sign a one-day contract with the team on Thursday and officially announce his retirement.

Mike Pouncey was a first-round draft pick by the Dolphins in 2011 and played for them until 2018.
After his time with the Dolphins, Pouncey spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, before “retiring” in 2021.
His official retirement, of course, will be with the Dolphins, where he spent most of his career.
Pouncey was a highly touted offensive lineman, considering that he was drafted 15th overall.
However, various injuries plagued his career, as Pouncey suffered multiple hip surgeries and a serious neck injury in the back half of his career.
Pouncey’s twin brother, Maurkice also had an impressive NFL career.
Maurkice was selected 18th overall in the 2010 draft, going to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Markice had his fair share of injuries as well but had a better overall career.
In his time with the Steelers, he was a two-time first-team All-Pro, a nine-time Pro Bowler, and a member of the all-decade team.
Both Pouncey brothers made their impact felt during their time in the league, coincidentally at the center position.
Now, both of them are officially retired and can enjoy life after football.
The NFL is a demanding league, both physically and mentally, and they can both get some much-deserved rest.
